Freshwater Shrimp

Freshwater Shrimp - Paratya australiensis.

One of the most important of the critters living in Australia's rivers these guy's are food for almost every other critter (turtles, fish, birds).  It could be argued that their most important function is to play the part of a vacuum cleaner, as they eat almost any waste material that finds its way into the water.
Personally, I love their eyes!
